Recently restored and refurbished as a modern, first class vacation cottage, the Ranson House was formerly a fisherman's house, dating to the early 1800's. With a fully furnished living / dining area, completely equipped kitchen, large luxurious bathroom and two cozy bedrooms, this house is a quiet and relaxing vacation retreat, in a remarkable island location. Two bicycles and a canoe are provided for guest use. Day sailing and fishing boat trips, with captain, can be arranged.

Area Description

Situated in the tiny village of D'Escousse, the immediate area is a former fishing village and now a peaceful, rural hamlet with about 200 residents, and lots of privacy and space. D'Escousse is on Isle Madame, a 17 mi. long island, connected to Cape Breton with a road and lift bridge. Easy access to all of nature: salt and freshwater recreation, boating, cycling, incredible bird and plant life, fishing - an easy, island lifestyle for vacationers and residents. No license required for saltwater fishing 9from the wharf a few minutes from the house), freshwater fishing licenses available locally. Four very good golf courses in the area, as close as 20 minutes away. Incredible boating, sailing, paddling. Mooring available if you bring your own boat. Several gorgeous sand/saltwater beaches nearby. Private beach right at house.

A car would be useful
A car is recommended as the location is a bit remote, although village services are all within walking distance. Shuttle services on request for airport transfer. Car with driver available for hire locally.
